Preparing For Your LASIK Procedure
Step 1
There are a few basic, yet important questions that you need to answer before having any vision correction surgery.
- Are you in good health generally?
- Are you over 18 years old?
- Do you have or have you had any corneal or retinal disease or damage?
- How long has your vision been fairly stable?
The Rahmani Eye Institute can help you answer these and any other questions necessary to determine whether you’re eligible for LASIK, EPILASEK or other treatments, and more importantly to achieve our primary goal of providing the best care and treatment for you.
Step 2
Asking us a lot of questions is an excellent next step. This website is a wealth of information for you to read and consider. Use it to help you focus on your goals and to develop your questions more carefully. Then you can come in for a free consultation, and speak one-on-one with Dr. Rahmani, who can answer all of your questions.
Step 3
After you’ve made the decision that you do want to have LASIK eye surgery, and it has been determined that you are a candidate for vision correction surgery, we will schedule an appointment for your initial examination at the Rahmani Eye Institute.
At the time your appointment is scheduled, you will be asked to stop wearing your hard contact lenses for at least a month before the examination. Or if you wear soft contacts, you will only need to go without wearing them for one week.
It’s important that your contacts have not temporarily changed the shape or condition of the surface of your eyes when they are measured, so that an accurate mapping of your eyes can be made. This rest period before your examination helps to ensure that your eyes have a chance to return to their “normal” unaided condition.
