How Common Are Cataracts?
By age 75, about 70 percent of people will have age-related Cataracts to one degree or another. The following factors can increase your risk of developing cataracts:
- Age beyond 75
- Heredity
- Eye injury or inflammation
- Eye surgery
- Excessive exposure to sunlight
- Diabetes
- Smoking
- Obesity
- High blood pressure
- Long-term use of some medications (steroids)
